Computer-aided design (CAD) is a computer technology that aids a designer or drafter in the creation of a product, and documentation of the design process. CAD may facilitate the manufacturing process by transferring detailed diagrams of a product’s materials, processes, tolerances and dimensions with specific conventions for the product. It can be used to produce either two-dimensional or three-dimensional diagrams, which can then when rotated to be viewed from any angle and printed using a 3D printer. CAD is also known as computer-aided design and drafting (CADD)

CADD encompasses all of the fields and industries where CAD is being used to design and create products such as that from the aeronautical industry, architectural industry, civil industry, mechanical engineering, Animation, electronic industry and just about any industry or field which requires detailed design of parts, and structures.

When the students reach the high school they can choose from several electives in the Technology Engineering Department. Every class includes CAD using either Solid Works or Autodesk products. Students are able to then print using several 3d printers located in the department for the practical application of their designs in their projects.
