Nerissa was first elected to the School Committee in May 2015 and is currently in her third term. She served as the chair of the Committee from May 2019 – 2021 and vice chair from May 2021-2022 and again June 2023 to the present. She has served the Finance Subcommittee from June 2015-2022 and again June 2023 to the present, the Policy & Advocacy Subcommittee from June 2022 to the June 2023, and the Pine Grove School Building Committee from 2016-2019 for the renovation project. She was educated in the Triton Regional School system, graduating in 1995. After time away from the area for college and career, Nerissa returned to Rowley with her husband and two sons in 2012. Nerissa has always valued life-long learning and hard work, and she has applied that to her School Committee efforts through reviews of and research on the regional agreement and the district’s budget and finances. After recognizing the common issues facing regional school districts, Nerissa also co-founded Support MA Regional Schools, a statewide grassroots group of 1500+ students, families, staff, elected officials, and community members that advocates for positive change at the state level. She is active in the Pine Grove School PTA and received the MA PTA Carol Woodbury Award for Leadership in 2019 and Advocate of the Year Award in 2021.
Nerissa’s term will expire in the spring of 2026.
